Irène Lhoste is an Eastern European diplomat, currently working and living in Brussels. Born behind the Iron Curtain and experiencing the turbulent transformations of her society in the 1990s, Irène decided to devote her activity to devising public policies to improve the lives of everyday people. She worked as a civil servant and then diplomat for her country since 2000, and joined the European Commission as a civil servant in 2009. She is an alumna of the College of Europe, Bruges. Irène is a convinced European, persuaded that the survival and thriving of her nation and of the European continent reside in a project of unity in diversity, which respects the Judeo-Christian roots of European civilisation.
