Stuart Waiton—Grooming by the State: The need for a Scottish Union for Education

Dr Stuart Waiton (who has previously appeared on a UK Column-hosted education symposium) is the Chairman of Scottish Union for Education (which blogs on Substack). He is a senior lecturer in sociology and criminology, and an author and journalist. He has a particular interest in the over-regulation and policing of everyday life and is committed to pushing back state indoctrination in schools.

Among other topics, this interview considers the twisting of terms such as "harm" and "liberation", the inability of functionaries to describe their own jobs, the failure of age-appropriacy, the ineptitude of civil servants and politicians as classes to determine what should be in school curricula, and what was learned from the campaign against the Scottish Government's Named Person mandatory state guardian scheme.
